Triple blergh

It is 4.54am Winnipeg time, I am sitting in a hotel room, drinking coffee because I had it delivered yesterday before I went to sleep, looking at myself in a mirror because the hotel room has a mirror on every surface except the ceiling (TG!), wondering why the hell I bother.

I am bloody knackered, and I still need a holiday. Almost 6 weeks has gone by and I am no closer to having time off, yet no one seems to appreciate the amount of work I put in, or how well I do. Piss me off. Sometimes I wonder why bother? When your life is out of your own control it is like this. I lived like this for too long to live like this again, and so I will have to not let it happen. Yeah I will fight, yeah I will meet with the people I need to meet with in order for the needle dick to be put in his place. Yup! He shouldn't have started this because he ain't gonna win! Time to call in the troups.

FFS!

They change the damn thing and it takes me FOREVER to get in and I FINALLY get in so that I can say I HATE THAT WOMAN!!!!! ARGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can hear her voice clear across the room and all she ever does is complain and whine and moan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sleepless in Winnipeg

Here I sit, wide awake, playing on my laptop with the lights out so I don't keep K awake, at Midnight. It is snowing out there, apparently going to dump a lot of snow on us over the next day or so, and for some reason people have actually listened to the advice to stay home and not drive.

I need a break from work I think, a break when I don't have to think about work. But that will not happen for quite some time. I want to sit up and watch trashy TV all night and sleep all day.

Life isn't fair sometimes.

Further blergh

Still working on the lecture. Nearly done, and I have watched two movies while working on it, the Black Widower, and now Sleeping Beauty. Is that sad enough?

Blergh

Back, uneventful flight, arrived a little early, which is a bloody miracle. no probs getting through immigration this time either.

Now I am sitting here, knowing I have to give a lecture on Tuesday and I only have today to complete the slide deck, and I really can't be bothered! I really can't.

As it is a nice day we will take the Bunts for a walk soon, which will alleviate some of the boredome of the hemodynamics lecture, but I will still have to get back to it when I come home again. Blergh!

OMG

Sitting up watching trashy TV when I should really be in bed. I have to be up in a few hours to drive back to Charleston to get the plane home again.

At least I have a travel mug now.

We had a great dinner, went to some southern cooking buffet, and had some more down home cooking. The waitresses were hilarious!

Then we went for peach ritas at Mexicalli, before coming back to the house to rest up before bed. I was so stuffed I couldn't breath propoerly. Robyn was so stuffed she can't sit up! LOL!!! Much fun was had by all, esp over the pee stick discussions.

Ah well I guess you had to be there.

Up with the cows

I was up with the cows this morning, it was still dark outside, which was a little depressing. But that is ok. I had a good strong cup of coffee. I might go get some breaky as I am rather hungry, then again, I might just and I did, go for breaky. The buffet is pretty good, and I have a plate of fruit, which I really feel that i need this morning. With bacon and sausages of course LOL!!

Not too many people around today, one of my colleagues just said that a lot of people are coming for the day, and not staying, which I find weird, but anyway. That might explain why there aren't so many people around. I am surprised at some of the people who aren't here quite frankly, but I guess you have to pick and chose your conference these days.

Once I have eaten I will return to the room to ablute, and then pack and then leave for sunny Georgia!

Student presentation

She did a great job, people were very surprised that she was only a Masters student, she did good, she answered the questions well too. Good job! Mike and I were very proud of her. So we went for a celebratory dinner. As you can see below, it was a good dinner.

Looks like we are off to Atlanta on Thursday, praps to the Cyclorama? No idea what that is. We will see.

Dinner

I finally got my chicken fried steak, I also had fried okra, some more she-crab soup and collard greens. Not necessarily in that order. It was good lowcountry food. Yum yum.

Now I am kicking back getting ready to go to bed, might play a little Fate before I go to sleep, but then I am also watching some show on fugitive captures.

Off to Athens tomorrow, after a working breakfast.

I need meat

I feel like that cat, I need meat! I am done with all this seafood, shrimp and oysters, I need meat, I need a nice juicy burger.

I will make every effort to get one tonight, food at the hotel is far too delicate, little flat beards with whimpy bits of god knows what on them, baked in a wood oven.

Gotta go, the student is presenting in 20 minutes, and probably almost passed out with fear. Can't get into my shawmail, but will try again tonight to let you know how it went.

Blergh

OMG I am dead tired. I worked till about 1am then went to bed, dropped off about 2.30 listening to some stupid hollywood gossip show, and then was woken by Mike texting me to tell me he was done and going to bed, this was at 3.50am! I couldn't get back to sleep, was too hot, my neck was sore, my back was sore, and I finally dropped off again about 5am to be woken by room service at 9.15!

Bloody Hell

Here I am trying to get some work done, I need to email a file, well ok so it was huge, which I realised, so then I started to FTP it to a site so my tech can dl it from there, and the damn provider boots me because i am using too much bandwidth! It is only 27MB! Anyway, I then had to convince the guy I wasn't doing anything illegal, like dling movies, and then listen to a long lecture on all the things that I was doing wrong, before I just agreed with him and got off the phone. Damn me!.

Now there is a Billy Ray Cyrus movie on and I am wide awake from all the frustrations of the day! I didn't even get my lobster dinner.

I am a mug

I have spent the most part of the day working on someone elses grant!!!!!!!!! I just realised, there I am working my arse off, and what is he doing? On the fucking golf course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

More fool me. I will get my own back, and I am co-applicant, so it isn't a total waste of time LOL!!! Still. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just wanna pay

Damn just let me pay for the damn drink! I had to wait while she washed glasses, and now she doesn't want to let me pay and leave!!! ARGH!!! more frustrations.

Time for lunch

Just about to go in to the women in neurochemistry lunch, judging by the saddos that have already entered the room it will be pretty dire. Oh well. I will let you know. LOL

Catch up

I was just reading back over some old posts. Bunty is still with us, she has been with us for just over 4 years, a week over. Considering she had 6 months to live that is pretty impressive. And she is as cute and energetic as ever, she sleeps a lot, and doesn't seem to want to play as much, but she still loves to run.

And we found a great vet.

End of the day

It is the end of the day, and I have just had supper on the terrace watching the sun go down over the water, watching the herons, pelicans and geese fly by. WHo could ask for more? Well I could ask for my wife to be with me, but that is not to be on this trip.

Now I will watch CSI Miami, do some work, and maybe get some sleep tonight.

Final seminar sesson of the day

That was an interesting talk on the role of MBP in the myelin membrane. will add to my RTT grant. Joan Boggs, she of the crappy grant review LOL!!!

Just saw Herb Geller (shudder). No sign of Jim Goldman, which is a surprise, I was hoping Liz would come too so I could borrow her eyebrow tweezers LOL!!!
